Real Life

–George Sheffield And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel. (Gen 3:15).

The first mention of Christmas in the Bible is Gen 3:15. In this verse God announces the coming redeemer, the Savior of men, the seed of a woman. This is of course Jesus.

The devil had led Adam and Eve into sin, ruining paradise. He thought he had checkmated God and won. But to his surprise, God checkmated him by proclaiming He was sending a Messiah who would crush the devil and destroy his works (1 Jn 3:8). This caught Satan off guard. The devil cannot see the future. Nobody can but God. Only He knows the end from the beginning (Isa 46:10), and He had planned for the redemption of man long ago. This wasn’t a plan B because God has no plan B, C, D. He only has His plan. God knew man would sin, and in His love for us, in His plan for His creation, He included the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world (Rev 13:8). Before the world was created, it was planned that Jesus would die on a cross, shedding His holy blood to redeem those who would put their faith in Him.

Before there was a Christmas tree, there was an Easter tree--the cross.

And before there was a you, there was a plan for you: your redemption. Come to Jesus, the Christmas seed that has defeated Satan. Come and be Born Again.

Merry Christmas.
