An Irwinton man in possession of cocaine, marijuana, pills and a digital scale while traveling in Jones County was stopped by law enforcement because of a headlight that was not working.
The traffic stop that led to the arrest of Shauez Antrone Glover took place March 18, 2022, on Masseyville Road. Glover was in Jones County Superior Court Jan. 3 to enter a guilty plea to the resulting possession charges.
He was sentenced to 15 years for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and 10 years for the possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. The sentences are to run together for a total of 15 years with the first seven years served in confinement.
Glover will receive credit for time he has served in custody since his arrest.
A report of his arrest by Jones County Sheriff Office Sgt. Travis Walker states that he was on patrol on Highway 57 at approximately 3:30 a.m., when he saw the Tahoe driven by Glover with one of its headlights out.
Walker said he performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and noticed it took the driver a while to pull over. The officer said he could see the driver doing something with the middle console inside the vehicle. Walker said he alerted Deputy Kevin Harden, who arrived as back up, to watch the driver’s movements. The sergeant said he ordered the driver out of the Tahoe for his safety. He said when the door opened, he smelled the odor of unburned marijuana as well as the odor of a masking cologne coming from the vehicle.
Walker said during a search of the Tahoe, a quantity of powder cocaine, Alprazolam, marijuana and a digital scale were found. He said Glover was arrested for possession of the drugs with the intent to distribute.
“With my knowledge, training and experience, I believe that Shauez was attempting to conceal the drugs prior to the traffic stop,” the sergeant said.
The officer added that the same location the drugs were found was the location Glover was seen messing with the console. He said the drugs and $403.79 found on the suspect were placed into evidence.
Walker added that seizure and forfeiture paperwork was completed for the currency and the vehicle.
Harden’s supplemental report pointed out that he saw Glover moving around the center console area inside the vehicle and also documented the heavy smell of a perfume cover spray and the green marijuana coming from the passenger side window.
The deputy said the cup holder came away from the center console of the Tahoe and the drugs and scale were found under that area.
