Murder charges were among those brought back by a Jones County Grand Jury Feb. 6.
Rashad Anthony Lay was indicted on charges of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault due to the shooting death of 32-year-old Trentarius Jade Greene.
The shooting happened in Haddock Oct. 4, 2022.
Lay, 27, was arrested Oct. 18 and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.
The charges against Lay escalated a month later when Greene died Nov. 4 as a result of the injuries he received in the shooting.
In a News story, Jones County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Kenny Allen stated officers were dispatched to the scene on Highway 22 in Haddock Oct. 4 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in reference to a shooting.
He said the house where the shooting occurred is next to a local chain store. The captain said, when deputies arrived, they found the victim had been shot multiple times.
Allen said the victim was conscious and alert when officers arrived and was able to give them information related to the shooting. The shooting took place outside of the house, and the captain added that JCSO deputies are familiar with the address where the incident took place. Daenisha Kaylia Grubbs, 20, and Daisy Mae Bivins, 40, were also arrested in connection to the shooting.
