Vineville Internal Medicine celebrated its new office in Gray with a ribbon cutting jointly sponsored by the Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Gray.
The July 25 event took place at the newly renovated office building located at 147 James Street, next to the Gray Police Department.
Vineville Internal Medicine is owned by Dr. Mary Bell Vaughn. The medical office now has four locations with offices in Perry and Warner Robins in addition to Gray. The original office is in Macon and is referred to by Vaughn as the ‘Mothership.’
In a July 26 phone interview, Vaughn said she wanted to locate in Gray because many of her patients live here. She said she was familiar with the area due to driving from Macon to Eatonton to spend time at the lake.
The Gray office opened June 10, and the doctor said its original practitioner was already booked up and a second has been hired. Nurse Practitioner Jen Woodall is being joined by Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Lee.
Vaughn said she is originally from Atlanta and came to Macon for medical school. She said she purchased a farm in Juliette and has a doublewide on the lake.
The doctor said the opening of the office went well, beginning with finding an appropriate building.
“It has good bones and was already set up for the exam rooms,” she said. “Everything went so smoothly. Jones County has cornered the market making it easy to open a business. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful.”
Vaughn said the decision to have the front entrance in the rear of the building was due to the accessibility of parking spaces. She said the staff parks in the front.
The doctor said she uses the same contractor and decorator for all the new offices, Contractor Wes Walker and Decorator Nancy Clark.
According to its website, Vineville Internal Medicine was founded in July 2002. The practice treats adults for acute care needs and health maintenance, with full hospital care when needed. Routine gynecological screening and breast exams are also provided.
Vaughn completed her undergraduate education at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, graduated from Mercer University School of Medicine and completed three years of Internal Medicine Residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
The doctor said it is important to her that people who take care of patients do it for the patients.
“I’m hoping to lay the foundation for the next generation,” Vaughn said.
