Hope Givers share message with GSMS students

Students at Gray Station Middle School recently got a big dose of positivity from people they recognized as social influencers and celebrities promoting the importance of good mental health.
Gray Garden Club members were very busy with the monthly meeting on March 4 with a most informative program on personal safety. The program was presented by James Clark, retired Captain from Jones County Sheriff’s Department, and Lt. Ransome. On March 5 the group visited Jones County Senior Center to make flower arrangements for the seniors to take home and sent several to local nursing homes. CONTRIBUTED

Fred Julian Hammock, Sr. served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945. He rose from the rank of Private to Sergeant, serving as a radioman in the Philippines and Guam.He received a Bronze Star for meritorious service and two Purple Hearts for being wounded during his service in WWII.

The JCHS JROTC Greyhounds hosted its first annual drill meet March 8, and 10 schools competed.The drill meet was the JROTC Area 12 State Qualifier, and all teams and exhibition competitors who placed first through third qualified would have advance to the state championship.
