The Jones County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information leading to the apprehension of those responsible for the desecration of the grave of a WWI soldier who died in the service of his country.

State superintendent presents academic awards

Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods visited Jones County High School last week to recognize the academic achievements of six Jones County schools.Woods said the Oct. 28 stop in Jones County was his third stop for the day passing out academic awards from the Georgia Department of Education.

Child molester found guilty, gets three life sentences

David Clinton Smith was found guilty on all counts by a Jones County jury Oct. 30. He received three consecutive life sentences plus 50 years to serve for charges of aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and sexual exploitation of children.
