A recently retired captain with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office has been busy with a Hall of Fame induction just one of the honors he received as a result of his dedication as a martial arts instructor. Capt. James Clark’s final day with the JCSO was Aug.

17-year-old arrested for stealing car, fleeing police

Jones County’s Flock cameras were again instrumental in the recovery of a stolen car and apprehension of offenders involved. Lonnie Terrell Brown III, 17, was arrested Aug.

Greene murder trial to begin Monday

The trial of Rashad Anthony Lay, who faces charges in the shooting death of Trentarius Jade Greene, is scheduled to begin Monday with jury selection. Lay was indicted by a Jones County Grand Jury Feb.

BOE hears reports of smooth school opening for 2023-24

The Jones County Board of Education held its first meeting since the beginning of the 2023-24 school year with report of a smooth opening. The Aug. 8 meeting was called to order by Board Chairman Ginger Bailey.
