Man pleads guilty to delivering contraband to jail

One of four defendants in a case involving a contraband drop at the Jones County Law Enforcement Center entered a negotiated guilty plea that included his testimony against his codefendants. Marshall Shane McInvale was in Jones County Superior Court March 23 to enter his plea.

Jury takes an hour to find child molester guilty

A defendant who was found guilty of the charges against him in Jones County Superior Court last week will find out how long he will serve in prison Thursday. Michael Anthony Lester was arrested June 7, 2021, and charged with child molestation and aggravated child molestation.

Teacher of the Year

Geske-Stewart of JCHS earns 2023 honor Jones County’s Teacher of the Year is a Social Studies teacher at Jones County High School who did not take long to make her impression among her peers. Christine Geske-Stewart was named Teacher of the Year at the March 30 ceremony held at Butler Hall.

Audit shows county in strong financial position

Jones County’s 2022 audit results drew praise for county leaders at the third Tuesday Board of Commissioners meeting. The March 21 meeting was called to order by Board Chairman Chris Weidner, who also led the opening prayer and pledge. All commissioners were present at the meeting.
