A former Jones County poll worker received a prison sentence in federal court last week after pleading guilty in February to the charge of conveying false information and making hoaxes.Nicholas Wimbish received a sentence of 20 months to serve in prison, followed by one year of supervised release.

Nurse manager to retire; reflects on her career

The Jones County NewsSherry Bryant lived in many different cities while growing up and worked at numerous jobs before settling in, but the nurse manager for the Jones County Health Department has called Forsyth home for 35 years and worked in public health for 30.

Council rolls back millage rate, amends sign ordinance

City Council members agreed on a proposed millage rate, amended the city’s sign ordinance and recognized a new firefighter at their September meeting.Mayor Ed Barbee called the Sept. 8 meeting to order. The opening prayer was led by Gray Fire Department Chaplin Lt. Aubrey Register.
