Council adopts rollback rate; Fall Fest Friday

Gray’s City Council members unanimously voted to roll back the city’s millage rate last week, which was the first reduction in the rate since 2009.The Oct. 6 meeting was called to order by Mayor Ed Barbee. The adoption of the tax rate was the first item of new business on the agenda.

Citizens speak on data centers; process explained

The possibility of a data center in Jones County was the topic of most of the citizens’ comments portion of last week’s meeting of the Jones County Board of Commissioners.The Oct. 7 meeting was called to order by Chairman Chris Weidner, and the prayer and pledge led by Commissioner Wendy Vaughn.

Greyhounds drain Chargers; tied for second in region

Led by a pair of big second-half touchdown catches by Nate Vaughn, Jones County exerted control on Friday against ELCA, winning 33-21.Ahead 13-7 at halftime, the Greyhounds raced to a 33-7 lead early in the fourth quarter prior to the Chargers adding a pair of late scores.
