Judge denies bond for man held on charges of molestation

A defendant arrested last month on several child molestation charges was denied bond in Jones County Superior Court.Kirby Vincent Moore, 55, was arrested Feb. 25 and charged with aggravated sodomy, two counts of child molestation and two additional counts of aggravated child molestation.

The Jones County Board of Tax Assessors held two called meetings last week. The first was to appoint an interim chief appraiser, and the second was their rescheduled monthly meeting.Board Chairman Leigh Stanford led both meetings.The March 10 meeting took less than 15 minutes.

It is probably safe to say there are not too many school administrators who are professional house painters as well, but Emory Lamar has proven he can do both jobs — successfully.Lamar is a lifelong Jones Countian and a retired school administrator who has been painting since his teens.
