Fields of Faith brings community together in worship

JONES COUNTY SCHOOLS

Nearly 1,000 people filled the Jones County High School stadium for Fields of Faith, an annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes event that brings students and community members together to share their faith.

Kelly Roberson, teacher and FCA sponsor, said the night was about unity and transformation.

“At Fields of Faith, our town came together as one — no denominations, just hearts united in worship. Students, children, and adults accepted Christ as Bibles were handed out, and new faith journeys began through text devotionals that very night,” Roberson said.

She credited student leaders for their efforts, including Cayl Milner for leading prayer, Aaron Varnadoe, Sarah Zellner, and Mikayla Mallory for sharing testimonies, and Javian Gibson for creating the event playlist and social media posts.

Roberson also recognized Jordan Echols for delivering the main message and thanked FCA community members Julie King, Josh Echols, Audie Newsome, and Laura Tinsley for their support. She expressed appreciation to JJ Hefly, FCA Area Director, and April Cassell, FCA County Director, for helping make the night possible.

For student leader Mallory, speaking at the event was a defining moment.

“Seeing Jones County and the surrounding counties worshiping the Lord together was very special. I was excited to share my testimony. Was I nervous? Absolutely, but that nervousness was offset by the joy I had to do this,” Mallory said.

She added that sharing her story gave her a sense of freedom and purpose.

Gibson, who helped set the tone for the evening, said his role was behind the scenes but meaningful.

“I was in charge of creating the pre-event playlist, as well as helping the other leaders greet everyone who entered. It was a night where you really knew for a fact that God was moving. Everyone there, whether new to faith or not, left thinking about the direction of their spiritual life. People’s lives can truly be changed by events like Fields of Faith. Revival is possible right here in Jones County,” Gibson said.

Aaron Varnadoe described the experience as a blessing.

“Speaking at Fields of Faith this year was such an amazing experience. I am so blessed to have shared my testimony at such a large event, and I am so grateful for a community like FCA to do it with,” Varnadoe said.

The event was supported by 63 volunteers from across the county and resulted in 84 firsttime decisions or rededications to faith.
