Holly Jolly Glam Bags made for teenagers in foster care

SUPPORTING FOSTER CHILDREN

A local beauty salon owner is working to provide a glamorous Christmas miracle for teenage girls in foster care who normally would not have access to the beauty products that can be pricey.

Stephanie Malcom, owner of Stephanie’s Hair Boutique at 4130 Gray Highway, said she is passionate about supporting the 29 girls in Jones County.

Her plan is to collect unused or new products for hair, nails, skin and makeup.

“My dream is to create enough Holly Jolly Glam Bags for all of them,” she said. “I am eager to shower these girls with all things ‘Beauty.’” Malcom posted her plan on social media two weeks ago, and response has been good. She plans to collect the items through Dec. 20.

She said her goal is to try to give the girls all they need for beautiful skin, hair and nails. The owner said a lot of people have been bringing things from their house, and she has a lot of trial-size things.

“People also have been buying things in bulk of 29 so that we can fill up these bags, but the gap right now is still shampoo and conditioner,” she said.

Malcom said people continue to bring things to the salon daily.

“Some leave it at the door and others bring it in and put it around the Christmas tree,” she said.
