Eatonton man arrested in Gray for stalking

GRAY POLICE DEPARTMENT

In Georgia, stalking is defined as following, placing under surveillance, or contacting another person without consent for the purpose of harassing and intimidating them, causing reasonable fear for safety .

Richard Alan Green, 44, of Eatonton, was arrested March 10 and charged with stalking after following the victim of his attention for several hours, including a morning run through downtown Gray, several errands and finally handing the victim a sexually charged note.

A report by Gray Police Officer Parker Jones of the incidents leading to Green’s arrest states he met with the victim, who was upset and seemed in fear of their life at the Gray Police Department.

Jones said Green followed the victim in his truck. He was first noticed by the victim during a morning run, during which the truck continued to follow through intersections and U-turns. After getting in their car at the gym, the victim noticed the truck following throughout morning errands to a school, ministry center and library.

At the final stop, the offender got out of his truck, handed the victim the note and left, but not before a picture was snapped of Green’s truck and tag number.

Using the tag number, Jones was able to show the victim a picture of Green, and he was identified as the offender. Flock cameras tracked Green’s entry into Jones County and tracked him back to Putnam County and then Baldwin County.

Jones collected the evidence and secured a warrant for Green’s arrest for the charge of stalking.

Capt. Jacob Hunnicutt followed up by making contact with Putnam County deputies in reference to serving the warrant. But while en route to Green’s residence, the captain saw the offender in his truck.

He alerted Putnam County deputies, who performed a traffic stop, and Green was taken into custody without incident. Hunnicutt later learned that Putnam County deputies found suspected methamphetamine in the offender’s truck and would be obtaining a warrant for that charge.
