“The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy”
(Ps 145:20)
God is generous to His children, those who love Him, those born again through faith in Jesus. In that generosity, God preserves, protects, watches over His kids. He will help in times of trouble. He will be with us in the flood and fire mentioned in Isa 43:2. As believers we will not automatically live charmed lives. We will face floods and fires. But in those times God promises to be with us. He won’t leave us, forsake us, or fail us.
God also preserves us as His saints. We won’t lose our salvation. We can’t mess up enough for the Father to kick us out of His house. Jesus never will lose any one that the Father has given Him (Jn 17:12). Jesus won’t misplace you in the shuffle of life. You are forever secure in your faith in Him.
God is also generous to the wicked--the unsaved. Because God is good, He is good to those who die in their sin in that He gives them what they want. Existence without God in their lives. Instead of the Father’s house, God gives them the Father’s hell, the place where God is not, forever punished with exile from the Father’s presence. The unsaved would never be happy in Heaven. Of course they won’t be happy in Hell either. But such is the fate of the wicked.
God’s generosity will preserve the righteous but destroy the wicked.
