Greyhounds emerge from dead week, hit practice field

GREYHOUND FOOTBALL

One of the GHSA’s two summer dead weeks came to a close to begin last week, and strong evidence was shown on the lower end of the JCHS campus with voluntary football workouts getting started.

Working out both inside the stadium on the Greyhound Field turf as well as utilizing part of the grass practice field as the remainder was underdoing maintenance, the week included offensive and defensive line work as well as skill players getting a feel for the offensive and defensive schedule during 7-on-7 work, wearing shorts, helmets and pads.

The Greyhounds summer of varied workouts will lead into the second dead week, July 3-9, prior to the first official practice being permitted by the GHSA as early as July 31 for the sports of football, softball, cheerleading, volleyball and cross country.

The Greyhounds will scrimmage Aug. 11 at Buford before open the season Aug. 19 against Northside at Mercer prior to the home opener Aug. 25 against Dacula.
