A mixture of activity fills any summer of offseason football workouts, and one of those is 7-on-7 passing tournament competitions among different teams. In this version of football, skill position players on both sides of the ball go against one another, and a high emphasis is placed on passing and route-running.
The Greyhounds excelled at a high level in this format last week, going to the University of Georgia and winning the Kirby Smart 7-on-7 Tournament.
That win came with multiple spoils of victory for the Greyhounds. Not only did JCHS coaches and players get to pose as champions on the same field that’s home to the two-time defending college football national champions, but the first-place trophy was also presented to them by none other than UGA tight ends coach and former Greyhound Todd Hartley.
Jones County scrimmages Buford on Aug. 11 and opens the season Aug. 19 against Northside at Mercer.
