Even with an unexpected absence of region play last week due to adverse weather, the Lady Greyhounds did not exactly have a week off. Jones County took on Ace Charter Wednesday, a program that regularly wins its region and enjoys trips into the state tournament.
The Lady Hounds stood tough in the face of that challenge, dropping a tough 2-1 decision to the Gryphons. Two of Jones County’s offensive leaders played a role in getting them on the board, with Reagan Sorrell’s shot finding the back of the net off an assist from Daisy Blanton.
Now 4-3 on the season, Jones County is scheduled to begin region play Friday against Eagles Landing prior to playing Union Grove next Tuesday on the road and Friday at home against Ola. Eagles Landing began this week with an overall record of 0-2 with Union Grove 4-2 and Ola 4-1.
