Fridays on Main switches up dates for summer

DOWNTOWN GRAY

Fridays on Main, a popular event held in downtown Gray will have entertainment for the whole family this summer.

Ashley Roberson, Main Street Gray director, said she’s always excited for the Fridays on Main events. She said the next ‘Fridays on Main’ is June 21 starting at 5 p.m. in downtown Gray.

“We started back our Fridays on Main here in Gray for the summer, and we just had our last one on the last Friday in May,” she said. “We have decided to change the dates a bit, and we are not doing the last Friday in the month like we have been. We have decided to start doing Fridays on Main the third Friday of every month, so our next event will be on June 21.”

Atlanta Road in downtown Gray will be closed for the food trucks and activities. Roberson said the stores will be open for people who want to shop, and music will start at the Terrace on Madison, who is the sponsor for Fridays on Main, at 6:30 p.m.

“We really enjoy this event when we have it, and it’s the one event where we don’t bring in many outside vendors. It’s more about the businesses that are here. It’s fun to have stuff going on downtown, plus have the stores open a little later than usual,” the director said.

She said people should come out to the next Fridays on Main, because it’s a fun event for the entire family and community. There will be music, food trucks to grab dinner, local stores open for shopping and a time to just enjoy downtown life. She said it’s something different for people to do.

Roberson said Fridays on Main will be happening again July 19 and Aug. 16 for those who want to attend. She said she hopes to see people out enjoying the community.

“I love seeing people here in downtown Gray. It makes my heart happy just to see people enjoying their time here,” the director said. “I hope to see more people in Jones County taking advantage of what we have to offer right here in our town.”
