Lady Hounds off to quick start on court, in region standings

In more ways than one, fast starts continued to be top of mind for the Lady Greyhounds last week.

With last week’s trio of wins against McDonough, Eagles Landing and Stockbridge, Jones County earned itself a 3-0 start in region play, making the Lady Hounds one of two unbeaten teams in the region after the first week of the region schedule, alongside Union Grove.

That fast start in the standings came as a result of two other fast starts. Last Tuesday against Eagles Landing, JCHS led 23-6 after a quarter, while on Friday at Eagles Landing, the Lady Hounds held a 26-2 advantage after a quarter en route to a 76-42 win. JCHS capped the week with a 55-45 win against Stockbridge.

Jones County benefitted from a big scoring performance by Mya Anderson in the wins against Eagles Landing and Stockbridge as she scored a combined 37 points and pulled down six rebounds against McDonough. Kamiyah Adams found similar success, pouring in a combined 38 points in the two wins with Aubrey Norris having 12 points against Eagles Landing and 13 points and five rebounds by Desirae Dumas against Eagles Landing.

Norris added three steals against McDonough with Coleman doing likewise against Eagles Landing.

The Lady Hounds don’t play Union Grove until Jan. 10, leaving multiple region contests between now and then. The next two are Friday at Ola and Tuesday at Woodland.
