Members of Jones County’s Grand Jury met last week and came back with 17 true bills of indictment that included a variety of charges for drugs, theft, obstruction and identity fraud.
The officers with the District Attorney’s office, Jones County Sheriff’s Office and Gray Police Department presented the cases to the jurors Dec. 3. In addition to the criminal cases, grand jurors also authorized Jones County Superior Court Clerk to destroy election material received from the elections office that is more than 24 months old and no longer needed.
Among the cases, Kelly Cleary Sr. was indicted for aggravated assault for an incident that took place Sept. 27. The case involved shots fired, allegedly by Cleary, that resulted from an argument at a residence on Hardy Chapel Road.
The report of the incident by Jones County Sheriff Department Matthew Dennis stated the shots were fired at a vehicle as it was leaving. Two shots hit the vehicle with one in the driver’s door.
Shomare Fabian Anderson was arrested Nov. 10 by JCSO Deputy Jarrod Elrod. Anderson was indicted for aggravated battery, cruelty to children and obstruction. The indictment alleges the offender seriously disfigured the face of the victim.
Christian Orlando Gonzalez was indicted for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and trafficking of methamphetamine. He was arrested for the charges by JCSO investigator Barron Hall Sept. 30. The indictment states he was in possession of more and 400 grams of meth.
Nakiya Watson and Kristen Nichole Ussery were both indicted on charges of identity fraud.
