FOOTBALL COACHES
Three Jones County assistant football coaches have gained recognition following a season in which the Greyhounds had their best regular-season record since 2019 and gave eventual state runner-up Marist all that it could handle in the second round of the state playoffs.
Parker Resources has named JCHS defensive coordinator Will Conner as one of its Georgia 4A defensive coordinators of the year with Jay Jones and Jake Chastain being named assistant coaches of the year.
Conner led a defense that held six opponents to 14 points of fewer with Chastain and Jones coaching a Greyhounds offense that averaged 387 yards per game, breaking the 40-point mark seven times.
