Eleven Jones County High School Greyhound Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Cadets visited the Capitol for Youth in Government Day at the Capitol Feb. 4.
The cadets, other JROTC units, the Georgia Girl Scouts, and advocacy groups all were present at the capitol.
During their visit, the cadets had the unique opportunity to observe the Senate and House floors in session. They also had a tour of the capitol, including its outside grounds, and a visit to the World of Coke Museum, which provided a wellrounded and enriching experience for the cadets.
The day’s highlight was the cadets’ engaging meeting with their State Senator, Rick Williams, and their State House Representative, Dale Washburn. Williams and Washburn shared valuable insights with the Cadets on how they represent Jones County and the bills the State is working on to improve life for theresidents of Georgia, fostering a sense of connection and understanding of the political process among the Cadets.

The day was filled with learning, teamwork, and inspiring moments that reinforced our commitment to leadership and civic engagement.”
