Golf Hounds, Lady Hounds claim home-course win

An early-season win on their home course came the way for the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds last Thursday at Lake Jonesco Golf Course with both teams picking up a win against Ace Charter.

“We feel really good overall; we had some good things happen,” said Greyhounds head golf coach Lance Pittman.

Karlie Hoffman was the overall low medalist of the of the day as part of the Lady Hounds’ 153, firing a round of 47 that included an eagle as the Lady Hounds had an overall score of 47. Kendyl Thomas finished third with a round of 52, Sarah Davis was fifth with a 54 to go with the sixth-place round of 61 by Ensley Barnes and Lainey Daughtery’s 68 that was good for 12th.

It’s a result that Pittman says began well before last week’s round.

“Their work ethic. They are here night and day, and they’ll stay and putt until their parents come to get them and tell them that it’s time to go,” Pittman said. “They love golf and love each other.”

In the boys’ half of the match, where JCHS was 23 over par 167, four strokes lower than ACE’s 171. Cash Bearden and Ethan Lewis tied for second with rounds of 41 and Barrett Beasley was fourth with a score of 42.
