Women in Mission hosts annual yard sale at Gray Methodist

Women in Mission hosted its highly anticipated Annual Yard Sale last week with all proceeds benefiting those in need locally.

The event was held March 1 at Gray Methodist Church. The ‘indoor yard sale’ has become a tradition that the community looks forward to each year.

Betsy Holley, a key organizer and longtime volunteer, shared her excitement for the event that takes a lot of work but raises needed funds.

“We look forward to this every year. I’ve been doing this for five or six years, and it’s always rewarding to see the generosity of our community come together to support people in need,” she said.

Holley explained that the group accepts donations that are collected and stored throughout the year.

“We start pulling out all the treasures on Wednesday night at 8 o’clock. It takes a lot of work to get everything priced and arranged, but it’s all worth it when we see the turnout on sale day,” she said.

The volunteer added that the event is made possible by the dedication of numerous volunteers, some of whom have been involved for years.

She said the funds raised by the yard sale are critical in supporting the Women in Mission’s ongoing efforts to help those in need within the community. On average, the sale brings in between $6,500 and $7,000.

“These funds are used to support various outreach programs, assisting individuals and families facing hardships within the community,” Holley said.

She went on to say this year’s yard sale was a great success, and the Women in Mission team is already looking forward to next year’s event. With the continued support of the Gray Methodist Church congregation and the local community, the Women in Mission will continue to make a positive impact on those in need, one yard sale at a time.

“We’re grateful for everyone who contributes, whether by donating items, volunteering, or just attending the sale,” Holley said.
