A Jones County man is doing his part to provide good service that people in the community can afford by opening his own heating and air conditioning company.
Blake Watson has been an HVAC technician for 16 years and provides everything from repairs and installation to sales. His company, Honey Heating and Air, officially opened Feb. 14. Watson has a Class 2 Conditioned Air license with the state, which is the highest available.
Until last month, he worked for other companies and has a strong base of satisfied customers around middle Georgia.
Honey Heating and Air is a family affair with wife Haley managing the office and marketing. The couple has three sons ages 12, 13 and 16, with the oldest already interested in learning the business.
Blake said one of the reasons he wanted own his own company was to develop a legacy for his family.
The owner said his father was in the military, which meant they moved often. He grew up in Macon, but the family moved to Crawford County, where he attended school and graduated.
Blake and Haley met when they were teenagers, and she’s the reason he moved to Jones County to raise his family.
He said the name Honey for the company came from a big tree in their yard that attracts a lot of bees.
“That and Haley always has a honey-do list for me,” Blake added.
He said the name is easy to brand, and the ads do contain a lot of “buzz.”
Blake said the company is currently offering a spring special of one-half off yearly maintenance contracts to get people started.
“I advise people to have a maintenance plan. It helps with the efficiency of the unit and will prolong its life,” he said.
The owner said, with the maintenance plan, customers receive discounted repairs and priority scheduling.
“We provide standard air filters with our service,” Blake said.
