When it came to filling the role of athletic director for the Jones County Schools, the end of the search settled on a very familiar face to those in Jones County.
Charles David, athletic director at Clifton Ridge Middle School, was announced as the system's new athletic director following an executive session at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.
Since starting his coaching career in 1995 at Califf Middle School, David has been on the sidelines in one way or another in Jones County. In fact, he was there when Clifton Ridge opened its doors in 2003, spending most of his time there coaching virtually every sport except for wrestling. His time within Jones County has also included being on the staff of head football coach Justin Rogers.
Now, following a coaching career of nearly 30 years in which he has coached countless student-athletes, and coached under and alongside coaches and administrators such as Barry Veal, current JCHS principal Dennis Woolfolk, Chuck Gibson, and John Trimnell, David is at the helm of Greyhound athletics.
