A Jones County woman was indicted on five counts of aggravated assault by a Grand Jury last week.
Latina Latrece Primas, 43, was arrested Jan. 21, 2025, and charged with aggravated assault. She was indicted April 8 on five counts of aggravated assault for the same incident, which put three juveniles in danger.
The officer who responded to the Jan. 21 incident was Gray Police Department Lt. Mitch Lovick. In his report, the officer stated he was dispatched that evening to a local convenience store due to the report of a shooting.
When he arrived at the scene, several witnesses told him there was no shooting, and the parties involved had left. He was advised that there was an altercation that involved a handgun.
The lieutenant was notified by dispatch that one of the subjects in the case had walked into the Jones County Sheriff’s Office lobby to make a report. GPD Capt. Jacob Hunnicutt was on the scene at the convenience store, and Lovick went to the JCSO to get the statement.
The officer said he made contact with the complainant, who told him Primas had pointed a handgun at him while making verbal threats to kill him. He wrote out a statement that explained he was helping a friend with groceries and was on the way back from Macon.
The complainant said the offender drove beside him and motioned for him to pull over. He did pull into the parking lot of the convenience store and had the offender to park away so she would not see the other woman in his car.
Primas asked for money, but the complainant did not give it to her. He said he tried to leave, but she blocked his path with her body. He said she had a pistol in her hand and used it to try to break the car window.
He backed up, and the offender walked to the front of the car and pointed the gun, aiming through the windshield. In addition to the front seat passenger, there were three children in the backseat.
Primas was heard saying she would kill the complainant who took off and drove to the JCSO.
Hunnicutt said he identified two witnesses at the store. He got written statements from both and talked to the clerk. The captain said dispatch advised him that the Georgia State Patrol had the offender stopped on Highway 22, and he went to the stop location.
Hunnicutt said he inventoried Primas’s vehicle and found a black holster in the cup holder and a black Taurus 9mm in a black book bag. A wrecker was called for the vehicle, and Primas was transported to the Gray Police Department.
Lovick said he watched a video from the convenience store. The video showed Primas striking the complainant’s vehicle with the handgun and block the car’s path. He also saw the offender take aim and point the firearm into the front windshield where the occupants were seated.
The lieutenant said the offender was bumped out of the way by the complainant’s front bumper after the weapon was pointed at them.
Lovick said warrants for five counts of aggravated assault were secured, and Primas was transported to the Jones County jail.
Primas has been released on a $30,000 bond.
