A small group met at Jonesco Clubhouse last week to meet with the host of an award-winning television show and author who happens to be from Jones County.
John T. Edge is the host of TrueSouth on the SEC Network. Edge also writes a restaurant column for Garden & Gun. His 2017 book The Potlikker Papers was named one of the best books of the year byNPR and Publishers Weekly. Edge returned to Jones
County April 28-30 to film an episode of TrueSouth that he said is timed to come out in September, the week before his next book, House of Smoke, is released. The April 29 gathering was a reunion of sorts for a few friends, including some from his childhood that he had not seen for several decades.
Parts of last week’s party at Jonesco were filmed and may be part of the TrueSouth episode.
The author said House of Smoke is a memoir about his life, which begins with his childhood home in Clinton.
Edge lives in Oxford, Mississippi, and serves the University of Mississippi as a teacher, writer-in-residence, and director of the Mississippi Lab. And he serves the University of Georgia as a mentor in their low-residency MFA program in narrative nonfiction.
