Transportation Director for Jones County Schools Gregory Lofton has been elected as the Transportation Director for the Middle Georgia Regional Educational Service Agency (MGRESA) for the 2025-26 school year.
Raymond Braziel, executive director of support services for the Jones County School System, announced Lofton’s achievement.
“We are extremely proud of Mr. Lofton. Congratulations on his appointment as MGRESA transportation director. His steadfast commitment to safe and efficient transportation makes him the ideal person to lead MGRESA into the future,” he said.
Former MGRESA Transportation Director Jake Davis of Monroe County Schools also congratulated Lofton on this accomplishment.
“Mr. Lofton brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to our RESA, and I am confident he will do an outstanding job,” Davis said.
Lofton discussed the responsibilities of his new role, which extends beyond his duties in the Jones County School System.
“As the new transportation director of MGRESA, I will be responsible for coordinating monthly meetings with transportation leaders across multiple school districts in the region. This includes setting meeting agendas, facilitating updates from the Georgia Department of Education’s Education Research & Evaluation Specialists, and organizing vendor presentations,” he said.
Additionally, Lofton will serve as a board member of the Georgia Association for Pupil Transportation, further supporting statewide efforts in school transportation.
Lofton expressed his gratitude for the positions he holds.
“I’d like to begin by expressing how grateful I am to continue serving as Jones County School transportation director. It’s a tremendous honor and blessing to now also serve as transportation director for MGRESA for the 2025-2026 school year,” he said.
He emphasized his commitment to improving the Jones County School System through his roles.
“In this position, I have the opportunity to lead collaborative efforts that support our districts and make a broader impact on student safety. I look forward to contributing meaningfully to our region’s continued success,” he said.
