Jones County’s Grand Jury considered 21 bills of indictment when they met last week and agreed to true bill each of the charges.
The June 3 indictments were presented to jurors by prosecutors of the Jones County District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement officers with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and Gray Police Department.
A true bill finding means there is sufficient evidence to formally charge the person named in the indictment with a crime.
A majority of the cases indicted involve drug possession and sales, with other cases of firearm possession, fleeing from officers, burglary, criminal damage to property and assault.
Marijuana distribution seems to be a recurring theme.
Gary Yaughn was indicted for kidnapping, false imprisonment, terrorist threats and family violence battery. He is currently on probation for similar charges.
Shomare Fabian Anderson was also indicted for charges of aggravated battery family violence, which included the disfigurement of his alleged
victim.
James Norris was indicted for criminal damage to property that involved the shooting of construction equipment.
Nathaniel James Gibby was indicted for two charges of child molestation in addition to a charge of aggravated child molestation. Gibby was set to go to trial last month in the child molestation case, but the trial was postponed following a health issue suffered by his attorney. The new charges are additions to the same case.
Amber Griffin was indicted on two charges of invasion of privacy that involved a preschool student. The investigation of those charges can be found in a separate article in this weeks’ edition.
