Auditions set for Finding Nemo Jr.

JONES COUNTY ARTS

Jones County Arts will hold auditions next week for its fall production of Finding Nemo Jr., open to elementary students who are eight years old or older and to all current middle school students.

Finding Nemo Jr. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the popular Disney-Pixar film, featuring catchy songs and colorful characters.

The story follows Marlin, a nervous clownfish, as he travels across the ocean to find his adventurous son, Nemo. He meets unforgettable friends along the way, like Dory and Crush, in a heartwarming tale about family, friendship, and self-discovery.

The production includes around a dozen songs, a variety of speaking roles, and many ensemble parts, offering exciting opportunities for young performers of all experience levels.

Director Lisa Mullis and Assistant Director Rosie Miles shared that participating in a Jones County Arts production offers children a chance to build confidence, form new friendships, and enjoy a fun, supportive community theater experience in Jones County.

“We invite anyone who loves to sing, dance, and perform to come join us at Jones County Arts. It is a great opportunity to make friends and be a part of a great group of kids,” Mullis said.

“Jones County Arts is a great way to embrace the fun our community has to offer. Any and all are welcome to come and perform with us,” Miles said.

Auditions will be held at the W.E. Knox Civic Center on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 5:30 p.m.

Children interested in auditioning for a lead role should come prepared with a 16-measure song and accompanying sheet music. Cellphone accompaniment is not allowed. For those who need help selecting an audition song, a variety of Disney and Broadway selections will be available at auditions. Songs from Finding Nemo Jr. are not allowed, and pop music is strongly discouraged.

Rehearsals will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with occasional Monday rehearsals.

The week of the show will include mandatory evening rehearsals.

Performances are scheduled for November 21–23.

Participation requires a $75 production fee.

Students who have not been in a production this year must also pay a $25 new membership fee, due at the read-through rehearsal. Families can register for auditions at form.jotform. com/252065877759171.
