Betty Clara Elder Greene, of 155 Royal Lane, Gray, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, 2026, at 87 years of age. Betty was born in Monticello, Georgia, on June 6, 1939, the daughter of the late William (Bill) Dixon Elder and Virginia Harper Elder.
Betty married Roger Owen Greene, in 1963.
Together they shared over five decades of marriage, raising their family with love and faith. Betty worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and tax preparer and dedicated much of her life to serving others through her church and community. A longtime resident of Gray since 1979, Betty was a devoted member of Christ Community Church, where she worked faithfully in the children’s program. She was also a proud member of Woodmen of the World Lodge 358.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Virginia Elder; husband, Roger Owen Greene and son, William David Greene. Betty is survived by her children; Mitzie Carol Greene Hicks (Win) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Dollie Diane Greene Pledger of Lynn Haven, FL, Timothy Mark (Joanna) Greene of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Todd Owen Greene of Gray, GA.
Betty was the loving grandmother of Calvin Tayes, Corry McLean, Adam, Abel, and Kaydeebeth Albritton, Happi Hoffer, Holli Cheek, Madeline Greene, Jacob Greene, Eli Greene, and Jackson Greene, as well as five great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild.
Betty will be remembered for her steadfast faith, gentle spirit, servant heart, courageous resiliency, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends.
Services were graveside at Gray Memorial Gardens at Cedar Ridge, on Aug.
8, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m. and overseen by the staff at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory with Rev. T. Mark Greene officiating.
