Edward “Greg” Johnson age 69, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 7, 2024. A celebration of his life was held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Pitts Chapel United Methodist Church, 132 Pitts Chapel Road, Macon, GA 31217, with Rev. John Haney and Rev. Keith Godlett officiating. The family greeted friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time. Burial followed the service at Pitts Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Edward was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and Papa. He was a long-time employee of Huckabee Auto for over 30 years and then worked Childre Chevrolet until he retired. He had a deep passion for cars, riding motorcycles, fishing and going to the mountains on his side by side. Greg was a HAM radio enthusiast (KJ4TGG), who loved chatting with his numerous radio buddies.
He was always a jokester and up for a good laugh.
He graduated from Lanier in 1972.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Edward Johnson; son, James Edward Johnson; and brother-in-law, Daniel Perkins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 plus years, Donna F. Johnson; favorite daughter, Melissa Johnson Loyd (Bonus son Barry S. Loyd); grandson, Britton Loyd, and grandson, Edward James Johnson along with bonus family Tracey, Zoey, and Zeke; Mother, Jessie Katurah Johnson and sister, Deborah Perkins.
Along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
