James M. Price, age 89, of Macon, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. He was born on November 9, 1934, in Pringle, Georgia, to the late Wyley Price and Mary Helen Rawlings Price. A visitation was held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory, located at 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia. Celebration of Life Services followed at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Dr. Donnie Sutton and Dr. Kenny Thompson.
Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.
James dedicated 40 years to Atlanta Gas Light Company, where he retired as a Service Foreman. In addition, he served as a bi-vocational minister of music for over 50 years, most notably at Shurlington Baptist Church, Stone Creek Baptist Church, where he spent 35 years, and North Ridge Baptist Church, as well as a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army.
His passion for music led him to write songs, play guitar, and record an album. James shared his love for music through a nursing home ministry, touching many lives with his faith, compassion, and kindness.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Katheryn Price; his daughter, Leah (Steve) Atkinson; grandsons, Jameson (Ivy) Atkinson and Ross Atkinson; great-granddaughter, Dory Atkinson; sister, Wylene (Cres) Keys; brother, Terry Price; nephew, Jordan Price; nieces, Leslie (Jerry) Arnold and Lyn (Lloyd) Wilfong; and sisterin- law, Barbara Price. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Price, nephew, Alan Price, and sister-in-law, Lynn Price.
