Richard Winn Herndon

Richard Winn Herndon passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Pine Pointe Hospice. A visitation was held Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel.

A celebration of life will be Friday, September 15, 2025, in the chapel of Gray Memorial at 1:00 p.m. A private Interment for family will follow the services at Pitts Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Richard was born in Macon, Georgia on November 22, 1935, to the late John Albert and Mary McKay Herndon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Herndon and brother, Bryant Herndon.

He was a retired Vice President of Macon Electric Company, a member of the IBEW and also worked for Jones County as an inspector for ten years.

Richard was a member of The Saint Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a graduate of Lanier High School, Macon, Georgia.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Richard was devoted to his family and friends.

Entertaining friends and family at his lake house brought him immense joy while they all enjoyed his fish fries. Attending the UGA and University of Florida games with friends was a highlight of his year.

His legacy of generosity, optimism, resiliency, kindhearted nature will bring comfort to those who knew him best.

His children and grandchildren will forever be grateful for his caring, supportive, joyful, and funny personality. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Rick Herndon and his daughter, Sierra Herndon; Randy (Trina) and their children; Arron Herndon, Bailey Polascik, Will Herndon and Ian Herndon. Bryant Herndon (Deceased) and his children, Jacob Herndon and Randa Herndon and five great-grandchildren.
