Ted Warren Jenkins, 82, of Gray, Georgia passed away at home on Friday, August 29, 2025, following an extended illness. Visitation was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 1, followed by memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Elam Baptist Church of Gray. Interment immediately followed the service at Elam Memorial Gardens.
Ted was born in Hiltonia, Georgia on January 15, 1943, to John James and Alabelle Amelia Forehand Jenkins. He was a graduate of Screven County High school and attended Middle Georgia College before beginning his impressive 38-year career at Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a longtime devoted member of Elam Baptist Church, serving in various roles. Before becoming ill, he enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and was an avid Braves, Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs fan.
Ted was father to three beautiful daughters, Marie, Marette, and Sara Elizabeth and especially enjoyed family time with his three grandsons, Colin, Tyler, and Brennen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alabelle; siblings, Douglas Jenkins, Margene Schenone, and Dan Jenkins; brother-in-law, Calvin Webb; and fatherin- law, Ernest Webb. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia Webb Jenkins; daughters, Marie (Hugh) Reece, Marette (Lance) Northcutt, and Sara Elizabeth (Michael) McGuire; and grandsons Tyler (Zoie) Northcutt, Colin Reece and Brennen Northcutt; brother-in-law, Dennis (Sara) Webb; sister-in-law, Alma Webb; and mother-in-law, Helen Thrasher.
Ted’s journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and unwavering faith in God.
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him for the way he lived his life, and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Elam Baptist Church Building Fund.
