Cheer programs host friends & family showcase

At schools all over Jones County, various cheerleading squads have been logging time in recent months, working to fine-tune skills and grow together as a team.

All of those abilities, either as groups or individuals, was on display in the JCHS Gymnasium last Thursday for the annual Cheerleading Friends & Family Showcase.

The night led off with cheer routines from Dames Ferry, Turner Woods and Mattie Wells Elementary Schools before the middle school and high school competition squads took the floor.

The latter was an opportunity for those close to home to see the high school and middle school routines as the closest cheer competition for either this year has been at Houston County.

Individual cheerleaders then took part of skill competitions before the night, concluding with the recognition of the lone JCHS competition cheerleading senior, Alley Davis.

JCHS Cheer Hounds set season-high mark at Ola

Jones County High School’s competition cheerleaders returned to the arena of competition on Saturday at Ola. They came away with a season-high point total in addition to a second-place finish.

Their next meet is Nov. 2 at McIntosh.

Middle school ers conclude season Jones County continued to show that the future of its competition cheerleading program is bright on Saturday as the middle school competition squad concluded its season during its meet at Ola.

The season concludes for the middle school Cheer Hounds following a year in which they have progressed forward and faced tough fields of competition in meets that have included those at Ola, Morgan County and Houston County.
