Homegrown Hound: Vaughn to coach O-line

Knowing where to park each day is not a worry for one of Jones County’s newest coaches.

River Vaughn has been officially announced as an addition to head coach Justin Montgomery’s staff, adding yet another layer on a staff of coaches that know and understand what it means to be a Jones County Greyhound.

Vaughn will coach offensive line for the Hounds in addition to coming aboard Jones County’s wrestling coaching staff. Much like football, Vaughn will bring his experience as a Greyhound there as well, as he was a standout on the wrestling mat for JCHS.

A 2016 JCHS graduate, who most recently coached at Putnam County, Vaughn played offensive line for the Greyhounds during a span that included the 2014 season, in which Jones County beat Northside and also advanced to the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs. Vaughn was a second-team all-state selection and first-team all-region pick before going on to play collegiately at Lagrange College.

After helping usher in an era of excitement for Greyhound as a player, Vaughn will now join a staff with at least one other former JCHS standout aiming to elevate the Greyhound standard as a coach.
