For the second postseason in a row, Jones County has opened the boys AAAAA state tournament with an upset of a region champion.
The Greyhounds went on the road Wednesday to Peachtree City and held off McIntosh late 57-49 to advance to the second round of the state tournament.
Jones County's opponent in the round of 16 will be a familiar one. The Greyhounds will travel to face Tucker, who JCHS upset 64-50 in last year's second round. The two teams will stage a rematch on Saturday at a time yet to be determined as Jones County will try and repeat history.
The Tigers beat Ware County 79-55 on Wednesday to advance.
With Jones County's victory, all four teams from Region 2-AAAAA will advance to the second round one year after four of the final eight remaining teams in the state tournament were from the Greyhounds' region.
