Another date in the Sweet 16 round awaits the Lady Greyhounds.
A 15-2 run blew things wide open for Jones County on Tuesday night in the first round of the GHSA Class AAAAA state tournament against McIntosh as the Lady Hounds toppled the Chiefs 62-32.
The win moves JCHS on to the second round against Ware County. The contest, to be played either Friday or Saturday in Waycross with the actual time and day to be determined, will be a rematch of last year's first round when Jones County, seeded fourth at the time, upset the No. 1 seeded Gators.
Ware, region champions again this year, beat Lithonia 54-19 on Tuesday.
The winner of that contest would play either Greater Atlanta Christian or Midtown in next week's quarterfinal round.
JCHS is one of three teams from its region to advance past the opening round with Eagles Landing and Union Grove also winning on Tuesday night.
