Lady Hounds cement third place with gritty road win

The Lady Greyhounds went on the road Friday and came away with a solid hold on third place in the region. Jones County passed the halfway turn of the region slate with a gritty 32-30 win against Dutchtown, a team that JCHS usually ends up neck-and-neck with for a state tournament berth.

A very unlucky draw deprived the Greyhounds from wrestling in last year’s AAAAA duals. Now, with a new format to qualify teams for state in place, Jones County is out to ensure that it does not miss out on the opportunity again. “It’s double elimination, but the top two go to state.

Lady Hounds overcome short bench to turn back Bears

From tip off on Friday, the Lady Greyhounds were at a disadvantage against Houston County. With one glance down to the opposite end of the court, the Bears had a depth of at least six or seven players in reserve.
