Jones County takes down competition in middle school tourney

The ranks of middle-school wrestling took over the JCHS Gymnasium on Saturday with seven teams on hand for the Jones County Middle School Takedown Tournament. Jones County took first out of seven teams as seven different Jones County wrestlers winning first place in their weight classes.

Greyhounds finish fourth in state; Lady Hounds seventh

There is no bigger stage of high school cross country than the state meet, and Jones County’s runners were well ready for the moment at Saturday’s state meet in Carrollton.

Basketball teams wrap up first week with Purple & White Game

Basketball practice officially began last Monday for both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds. Each team capped that first week of work on Saturday in their Purple & White Game at the JCHS Gymnasium.

Wrestlers ‘ready to compete’ as season-opener nears

The offseason of various workouts and other team activities officially shifted to preseason mode for the Greyhound wrestlers last Monday with the official start of practice. Work took place on the mat, viewing film of an Olympic medalists and putting some of that technique into practice.
