There’s a need in sports to have a short memory and forget the past. The Lady Greyhounds are in the midst of that with the region schedule picking up pace.After last Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Locust Grove, the Lady Hounds, 3-1 in the region as this week began, had little time to reflect back.

After dropping a trio of tournament matches the Saturday before, the Volley Hounds had a bounce back on their minds in FPD’s tourney Saturday.And despite the task being made tougher due to injuries and illnesses, Jones County persevered, taking wins against Covenant Academy and FPD.

Jones County High School’s football cheerleaders will host their future cheerleading clinic from 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 11. Open to ages pre-k through fifth grade, the cost is $35 with payment via GoFan. The deadline for payment is Aug. 30.

History was made Friday night at Greyhound Field, as Jones County opened the season with a 41-26 win against Veterans. With the win, JCHS head coach Mike Chastain became the winningest football coach in school history.The Hounds open region play next Friday at home against Woodland Stockbridge.
