Jones County’s Grand Jury met earlier this month and true billed 21 indictments presented that included charges of drugs, theft, aggravated assault, incest and child molestation.
The grand jury met June 5 and listened to evidence from prosecutors, deputies and investigators from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Gray Police Department.
Timothy Holden was indicted for possession of cocaine, and Zanquvious Sandifer and Antonio Pitts were indicted for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Pitts is also facing firearm charges.
Angel Dacosta and Ashley Parks are facing charges of aggravated stalking.
Three indictments included the attempt to outrun law enforcement officers. That includes Kyree Robinson, Annabella Harrison and Shamica Burney.
A report of the pursuit and Burney’s April 1 arrest by Gray Police Officer Josh Josey states he attempted a traffic stop on a Honda Accord at approximately 4 p.m. on Pulaski Street near the park in Clinton. The resulting high-speed chase was no April Fool’s joke. It began in Gray and ended at a Macon hospital reaching speeds of in excess of 100 mph.
Burney was indicted for felony fleeing or attempting elude a police officer, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, failure to maintain lane, speeding and striking an unattended vehicle William Dewberry III and Roger Cecil Evans were indicted for aggravated assault. Evans was also charged with aggravated battery with both charges under the family violence act.
Evans was arrested April 30 after investigators received the report of the April 24 assault. The victim of the assault was taken for treatment at the burn center in Augusta.
JCSO Investigator John Simmons stated he received information regarding the April 24 assault from a caller who advised him Evans had set the victim on fire before taking her to the emergency room.
Simmons said he received multiple other calls from people connecting Evans to the crime but did not locate a witness to the event until April 29. The witness said during an argument, Evans threw gas all over the front of the victim and started threatening her with a lighter.
The witness was outside the house when she heard the victim screaming for help. When she got inside the house, Evans had put the fire out with a blanket. They put the victim in the witness’ truck and took her to the hospital. The victim reportedly has third-degree burns from her neck to her knees.
Michael Scott Dorough and his wife Ashley Ann Dorough were both indicted as the result of a child molestation case. Dorough, a former Bibb County Deputy, is facing eight charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, and three counts of incest.
Ashley Dorough faces charges of influencing a witness and cruelty to children.
