In advance of this week’s league championship meet that was hosted on Wednesday, Jones County’s boys ran to a big win at last Wednesday’s Peake Invitational, getting the best of 12 teams. Powering the win for the Jones County contingent was six runners finishing in the race’s top 20.
That group was led by Jace Grogan in seventh place and Owen Wommack in the ninth position. Other top-20 came from Dalton Russell in 12th, Rowdy Andrews in 15th and Gage Pittman in 20th.
In the girls race, finishes of sixth by Mary Barnwell and 12th from Becca Durrett paced the girls to finish fourth with other top finishes from Tanner Watts in 20th and Phoebe Palmer in 23rd.
