The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department Oct. 25 – Nov. 6, 2024.
Oct. 25
Failure to comply
Corp. Sullivan was informed that a male subject was released from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office Jail with the understanding that he was leaving Jones County but failed to register a new address within 72 hours of his release and has absconded. Georgia Sex Offenders are required by law to register within 72 hours of any change of address. Sullivan received an email from Bibb County Sheriff’s Office advising that the subject never showed up to register in that county as they were lead to believe he would be doing at the time of his release. Sullivan obtained a warrant for arrest on the male subject for the violation.
Oct. 30
Unlawful conduct
Deputy Elrod was advised by dispatch that they were receiving multiple 911 phone calls from a residence. Elrod was told that a female subject had called 911 and hung up several times. Dispatch also advised the deputy that the female had initially requested EMS to come to her location because she was having a panic attack. When EMS arrived at the residence, they advised dispatch that the female stated she no longer wanted to be treated. The female continued to call 911 from multiple cell phone numbers. It was found that the female had Facetimed several family members in another state telling them that she was being held hostage. Elrod and Sgt. Sullivan had gone to the residence prior that evening for a 911 hang up call and confirmed that the female was not being held hostage and that she was at her residence alone. Elrod was also informed that the female has a history of methamphetamine use and appeared to be under the influence of some sort of stimulant. The female had called 911 two times from one cell phone number and called 911 from a different cell phone nine different times. The female called 911 again and hung up. That prompted the Sheriff’s office to respond. Upon arrival at the residence, Sgt. Sullivan and Deputy Elrod placed the female in handcuffs and transported her to the Jones County LEC for booking. A warrant will be issued for Unlawful Conduct during a 911 call. The deputy also found out that the female had been calling Gordon Police Dept. via 911 several times as well.
Nov. 6
Life in the fast lane
Deputy Elrod was patrolling the area of Gray Highway running stationary radar from his patrol vehicle when he observed a vehicle approaching him at 87 mph traveling southbound on Gray Hwy. The driver of the vehicle then increased her speed to 90 mph as she passed Elrod’s location. The deputy was able to catch up to the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Elrod made contact with the female driver of the vehicle.
A check of the female’s license through the GCIC/NCIC system revealed that her license had been suspended since December of 2023 for super speeder. The female was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Jones County LEC where she was issued a citation for speeding and driving on a suspended license. The female was released on her citations from the LEC.
