The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department Feb. 2-4, 2025.
Feb. 2
Two warrants in one stop
Deputy Marcum was on Highway 49 monitoring Flock cameras when he received an alert on a vehicle showing suspended registration and no valid insurance coverage. Marcum located the vehicle in a parking lot of a local business and waited for the occupant to return to the car. The deputy observed a male and female subject get in the vehicle and leave. At that time, Marcum activated his blue lights and initiated a traffic stop. Deputy Elrod arrived on scene to assist.
Marcum met with the occupants of the vehicle and advised the reason for the stop. The deputy asked the female driver for her license and asked the male passenger for his name and date of birth. Deputy Elrod checked both the female driver and male passenger’s information through the GCIC system, and it came back to show the female driver was wanted out of Bibb County and the male passenger had a warrant through Jones County. Both individuals were arrested without incident and transported to the Jones County LEC. The female driver was charged with driving a vehicle with no insurance, suspended registration and a hold placed on her for Bibb County for the warrant.
Feb. 3
Outstanding warrant
Deputy Langston was patrolling the area of Highway 49 when he received a hit from a Flock camera at the Baldwin/Jones County line for expired registration.
Langston pulled over and waited for the vehicle to approach him in order to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. When the vehicle passed Langston, the deputy activated his emergency lights in order to conduct a traffic stop. The driver did not stop, just slowed down. At that time, Langston activated his siren and the driver still did not stop. Finally, the driver pulled into a local business parking lot and Langston pulled in behind the vehicle. Langston made contact with the male driver and asked why he did not pull over. The male driver advised the deputy that he was waiting to get to the business in where he stopped before he pulled over. Langston obtained the male’s driver’s license and returned to his patrol car to run the driver’s information through the NCIC system. The information from NCIC came back to show that the driver had a warrant out of Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and his license had been suspended for child support obligations. The male driver was arrested and transported to the Jones County jail where he was issued citations and booked into the jail. Upon completion at the jail, Langston transported the male to the Baldwin County line on GA Highway 22 where he was released to a Baldwin County deputy for his outstanding warrant.
Feb. 4
Active warrant
Sgt. Carr was dispatched to a local residence in regard to an active warrant on a subject. Upon arrival, Carr made contact with the male in question in the kitchen of his residence. The sergeant advised the male subject that he had an active probation warrant and at that time, Carr placed the subject in custody. The male was transported to the Jones County LEC, served with his warrant and turned the subject over to jail staff for booking.
Damaged taillight leads to arrest
Deputy Langston was patrolling the area of New Clinton Road when he observed a vehicle with a damaged driver side taillight. Langston conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. When the deputy made contact with the male driver, the male advised that he was aware of the taillight damage. The male driver then advised Langston that he did not have his driver’s license on his person, however, gave the deputy his name and date of birth. Langston returned to his patrol car and ran the male’s name and date of birth, and it came back to show a warrant out of Bibb County. The deputy returned to the subject, asked him to exit the vehicle and placed the male in restraints while advising the subject he had an active warrant.
Langston had dispatch inform Bibb County of the male, and they advised they did want a hold placed on the subject. The male driver was then transported to the Jones County LEC to await pick up from Bibb County.
