The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department Aug. 22-25, 2025.
Aug. 24
Forgot about the marijuana
Dep. Robinson was on patrol in the area of GA Hwy. 49 when he received an alert from a Flock camera on a vehicle. The Flock camera showed the vehicle traveling on GA Hwy. 49 north which was the same direction Dep. Robinson was going. The deputy observed the vehicle up ahead in front of him and caught up to it. Robinson ran the vehicle’s tag number through the NCIC/ GCIC system, and it came back to show that the driver’s license was suspended due to a prior DUI. The deputy confirmed the suspension through dispatch, and they advised her license had been suspended. Robinson made contact with the female driver and advised her the reason for the stop. The female advised the deputy that she knew about her license and that the vehicle did not belong to her, it washerfriends. Atthattime, Robinson had the female driver exit the vehicle and placed her in handcuffs. Robinson asked the female subject if she had anything illegal on her person or in the vehicle and the female stated she did not. The female had placed her purse on the rear of her vehicle, and the deputy advised that he was going to check her purse prior to taking it with her to the jail. Once Robinson looked inside the purse, he located a small plastic bag of marijuana. The female stated that she had forgot it was in her purse. Deputy Patterson arrived on scene and waited on the next available wrecker to tow the vehicle while Robinson transported the female driver to the Jones County LEC. The female subject was charged with driving on suspended license and possession of marijuana less than one ounce. The female driver was given a warning citation for expired registration.
Wanted person
Dep. Morris was dispatched to a local residence in reference to a wanted person possibly being located there. Morris confirmed the warrant and went to the location. Upon Dep. Morris’ arrival, she made contact with several people that were on the front porch of the residence. When she asked about the wanted subject being there, she was told that he was not there, however, one of the subjects on the porch indicated with his eyes that the male subject had went around to the back side of the residence. Morris was able to find the male located behind a well house in the yard. At that time, the male subject was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County LEC without incident.
Aug. 25
Active warrant
Dep. Sullivan was dispatched to a local residence in regard to a dispute. Upon arrival, Sullivan made contact with the male complainant that stated a male subject had a flatbed truck and was trying to tow the complainant’s vehicle that he recently obtained. The complainant advised the deputy that the male subject was not a tow truck driver, he didn’t even have a tow truck only the flatbed truck. Sullivan then obtained the male complainant’s information and ran his name and date of birth through the GCIC system. Upon running the complainant’s name, the GCIC system came back to show that the complainant was wanted out of Greene County. At that time, Sullivan placed the complainant in handcuffs and detained him. Sullivan had dispatch confirm the warrant. The male complainant was then transported to the Jones County LEC where he was turned over to jail staff.
