The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department March 4-14, 2026
March 4
Wanted person
Capt. Hunnicutt was working security at a local municipality when he noticed a familiar vehicle pull in the parking lot.
Hunnicutt remembered that Officer Holloway had stopped the same vehicle the previous month, and the driver of the vehicle was charged with traffic offenses and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
Holloway had released the driver on citations, however, Hunnicutt recalled that when Holloway was sorting through the evidence from that stop, he had found methamphetamine and MDMA and that Holloway had taken out warrants on the driver. Hunnicutt could not remember the male’s name, so he called Officer Holloway and was told the name of the offender. Hunnicutt then confirmed that the warrants were valid. At that time, Capt. Hunnicutt and Officer Josey placed the male subject under arrest for the warrants. Josey then transported the male subject to the Jones County LEC.
March 9
Pay attention
Officer Josey was conducting morning school traffic on Railroad St. at Bill Conn Parkway when a vehicle attempted to go out of turn causing Officer Josey to have to move out of the path of travel to avoid being struck by the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped halfway in the intersection by the officer and advised to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. Josey made contact with the male driver and advised him he needed to pay more attention while driving in school zones. Josey then ran the male’s information through Dispatch and was advised that the male driver was wanted out of Baldwin County. The male driver was removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. Capt.
Maynard arrived on scene and took custody of the male driver then transported the subject to the Baldwin County line to meet Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
March 12
Foot chase
Dep. Dominguez was on patrol in the area of New Clinton Rd. when he ran a license plate check on a vehicle for registration and insurance. The information came back to show the vehicle was not insured. Dominguez got behind the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. As the vehicle pulled into a nearby parking lot, the deputy could see through the back windshield that the driver and passenger were switching positions so that the driver was now in the passenger seat. The deputy got out of his patrol car and approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and made contact with the occupants. There was now a female in the driver’s seat, a male in the passenger seat and two children in the rear seat.
Dominguez asked the passenger to step out and go to the back of the car. The deputy asked the male passenger if he had anything on him and the male responded that he did not and then took off running on foot down New Clinton towards Shurling Dr. Dominguez chased after the male and then pulled out his taser and told the male to stop. The male subject continued running as the deputy called out several times for him to stop or be tased. Dominguez called out over his portable radio that he was in an active foot pursuit and gave the direction of travel. The chase went through a couple of front yards before the male went into a back yard, jumped a fence, fell down and got up and started running. As the deputy was getting close to the male subject, he warned the male again that he was going to tase him if he did not stop. Dominguez then shouted out taser, taser, taser and the male finally stopped and laid out on the ground. The deputy did not have to deploy his taser. The male subject was immediately handcuffed, and Dominguez advised over the radio the subject was in custody. Dep. Elliot and Sgt. Patterson arrived on scene to assist. The male subject was identified, and dispatch advised that the male had several warrants out of Bibb County. Sgt. Patterson placed the male subject in the back of his patrol car and transported him back to the original site of the traffic stop. Once Dominguez arrived back at the scene, Dep. Steib and Dep. Morgan had the female detained. When it was determined that the female had a valid license and no warrants, Dominguez gave her a citation for no insurance due to the vehicle being registered to her. Dominguez then retrieved the male subject from Sgt. Patterson’s vehicle and placed him in the back of his patrol car. A warrantless arrest was made on the male subject due to him running from the traffic stop and not stopping after being told to. It was found that the male also did not have a license and he was driving the vehicle and the female admitted to it because she was tired. The male subject was transported to the Jones County Jail and turned over to jail staff. The male was cited for unlicensed driver and charged for fleeing or attempting to elude police officer.
March 14
Obstruction of officer
Dep. Morgan was completing a traffic stop when a vehicle passed by him with dark tinted windows. Morgan advised dispatch that he was done with one traffic stop and was conducting another stop. The deputy caught up to the vehicle and called dispatch with the temporary GA tag number. Morgan made contact with the female driver and male passenger who was not wearing a seat belt. After the deputy was finished speaking to the female driver, he asked the male passenger for his ID or driver’s license since he was not wearing a seat belt. The male subject told the deputy that he did not have to give him his license because he was not driving the vehicle and he had taken the seat belt off after they had stopped for the traffic stop. The male was speaking in a very agitated manner and was recording Dep. Morgan. The deputy asked the male two more times during the interaction for his license, meanwhile the female driver was asking the male to just give the deputy his license. Morgan then went to the passenger side of the vehicle and unlocked the door through the window that was partially down, then took the male subject out of the car. Morgan placed the male in handcuffs and walked him back to the patrol vehicle where the male’s attitude began to change, and he began to listen and try to reason with the deputy about him going to jail and why he should not go to jail. The deputy informed the male that he was under arrest for seatbelt violation and obstruction. The male passenger was transported to the Jones County Jail and turned over to jail staff without incident. The female driver was issued a citation for window tint and allowed to leave the scene.
